After rolling out Google Meet, Google Chat, and Rooms tabs in Gmail for Google Workspace customers, Google is now adding Gmail Chat integration for personal Google accounts.

This means that any user with a Google account can now make use of the new Chat and Rooms tabs on Gmail. This piece of information was shared by a Twitter user, Pratik Goswami.

As per Pratik, the new Chat integration on Gmail is now available and users can enable it by following a few steps. However, note that this feature is available as Early Access.

Meaning that there might be a few bugs and glitches that you may come across while using this new Gmail Chat integration for personal Google accounts.

Under the app Settings menu, you will find the new "Chat" option. Enabling this option will give you access to Google Chat and Google Rooms tabs in Gmail.

You simply need to tick the checkbox next to it and then tap on "Try it" in the pop-up that comes up next. Afterward, you will be navigated back to the home screen.

Once the new feature is enabled, the Gmail interface will change. Moreover, at the bottom of the Gmail home screen tab, you will be able to access your emails, chats, and video calls.

The first tab will give you access to your emails, while the second tab will show up your Chats, the third tab will give you access to your Rooms.

According to XDA Developers, you will see an additional pop-up that will ask you to turn off duplicate chat notifications to "prevent being notified twice for each chat message."

Although the new Gmail Chat integration feature is in early access if you come across any issues, you can, fortunately, turn it off. This will revert you back to the old interface.

Notably, the new Gmail Chat integration is available in version 2021.03.07.364486182 of the Gmail app on Android. So, if you wish to try out this new feature, then you can update the Gmail app from the Play Store.

You can also enable this feature on Gmail for Web. For that, you need to head over to Settings>>See All Settings>>Chat and Meet. Finally, tap on Google Chat (Early Access) to enable this feature.

Google Meet tab was already available for both Enterprise and Personal Google accounts. However, the new Chat integration for personal Google accounts just after Google is wrapping up the Hangouts for personal users.
