The Google Pixel 4a has been a rather successful smartphone for the company. Well, Google has big plans for its successor, the upcoming Pixel 5a. The company is planning to take advantage of the demand, it seems.

Google has never been able to sell tons of its Pixel smartphones, and many would say that wasn’t the company’s goal. Well, one of the world’s biggest smartphone markets was quite interested in the Pixel 4a, it seems.

Google has big plans for the Pixel 5a, and India will benefit from it

We’re talking about India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market. Google seems to have underestimated the demand for the Pixel 4a in the country. It plans to rectify that mistake with the Pixel 5a.

According to information from ET Telecom, a company executive said: “Google doubled inventory for Pixel for India last year and this year the intention is to further increase the focus and get larger share from global inventory for the India market”.

The increased demand for the Pixel 4a in India is not surprising. The Pixel 4a was 25-percent more affordable than the Pixel 3a, and it’s a great smartphone. Many people would argue you can’t get a better phone at that price tag.

Well, Google plans to take advantage of the momentum, as it hopes that Indian users will be interested in the Pixel 5a as well. That handset is expected to have a similar price tag to its sibling.

Affordable smartphones are very popular in India

Affordable smartphones are quite popular in India, especially good ones. The Google Pixel 5a is expected to launch on July 11, at least according to a well-known tipster.

It is expected to arrive on that day, but India may have to wait to get it a bit longer. Chances are it will arrive a bit later to that country. There’s a good chance that it will become available in the US and Europe before it arrives to India.

Google may end up offering this handset in more markets this year. Pixel smartphone sales actually increased over 30-percent YoY in 2020, which are good news for Google. Those sales were mainly led by the Pixel 4a and 4a 5G.
