The ROG Vision display on the back of the ROG Phone 5 Pro and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is a cool little way to keep things customized. And there are a lot of different ways to make it your own and show your passion for gaming.

Whether you're a solo player, someone who enjoys playing with their friends, or on an Esports team, the ROG Phone 5's Vision display provides a method for stamping any number of things onto the back of your phone.

If you plan to get one of the ROG Phone 5 devices that have the ROG Vision, changing things is up is super easy to do and fun to explore. Simply because there are so many options. This handy little guide can easily walk you through the steps to change the ROG Vision display. And from there the possibilities of what you put on it are only limited by your imagination.

How to change the ROG Vision display on the ROG Phone 5

Changing the ROG Vision artwork or image can be done with just a handful of different steps. The process can be a bit longer depending on what option you select. And the more customized you want to make things, technically the more steps you'll have.

Having said all of that the process starts in the same place for all the different ROG Vision options.

Launch the Armoury Crate app

To kick things off you need to launch the Armoury Crate app on the device. If you don't change around the icons on the home screen, specifically which apps are in the dock, then Armoury Crate will be the very middle app on the dock.

Open this up where you'll find tabs at the bottom for your game library, console, connect, featured, and my profile. These tabs will be at the top if you have the phone in landscape mode.

Tap on the console tab

Next you'll need to tap on the console tab, which houses a lot of the different game-related customization features. From lighting to different performance modes based on what you'll be using the device for. For instance, X Mode is generally the preferred mode if you plan to play a lot of games during use.

During days where you may not have a lot of time to play games, you may simply want the battery to last longer. In this case you would choose the Ultra Durable mode. For now though, don't worry about the modes.

Once the console tab loads which should be immediate, scroll down and look for the ROG Vision feature settings. This should be the second toggle, below the mode options.

Enable the ROG Vision feature

First things first, enable the ROG Vision feature by tapping on the toggle. Then, tap on the ROG Vision card and you'll be taken the ROG Vision menu where all of the different options are for choosing what to show on the ROG Vision display.

As noted in our review of the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, there are a number of pre-installed ROG Vision options. Including external accessory, X Mode, screen on, charging, games, and incoming call.

Each of these will also have a couple of different animations within them. So scroll through to find one you like.

Find an animation you like and tap apply

Once you've settled on an animation, simply tap the apply button below that animation and that will select that particular animation for the ROG Vision display. This will be shown on the display so long as the screen is on and the phone is unlocked. The moment you lock the screen though and the front display goes to sleep, the ROG Vision display will turn off.

Unless you have the charging animation applied and the phone is actually charging.

Create your own ROG Vision animation

Creating your own ROG Vision animation is another really cool detail about this feature. If you simply want something unique to display on the back of your phone, this is a neat way to do that.

It also works as a way to let Esports teams put their logo on the back of the phone during competitions. Should they want to do that.

To create your own ROG Vision animation, tap on any of the main categories, such as screen on. From there, tap on the "+" symbol located in the top right corner of the UI.

Once you do a popup card will appear that says Create new ROG Vision. There will be three options here for the kind of vision you can create. These include Image Effects, Text Effects, and Signature.

If you want a cool piece of art, a logo, or an image you took as the animation, select the image one. You can then select what section of the image you want to be displayed, and then even apply a filter for it from a selection of different options.

Once done, press the play button and that will create the vision and apply it to the back screen. You can also save it if you just want to create it but not apply it. If you create a text or signature vision, then you'll get to type something up and choose from a totally different set of filters that are better suited for text. Like a team name, or your own gamer tag.

In addition to changing the actual text and the filter, you can also change the font, as well as the color. Then once you have what you want either hit the play button or save the vision for later.

Downloading/sharing ROG Visions with other users

If you don't want to create your own, you can download ROG Visions that were created by other users. Think of it like a cool way to share unique animations that you may not have come up with yourself.

Unfortunately, there's not really a convenient way to find downloadable ROG Visions. You simply have to go to the connect tab and scroll through the ROG Community group looking for some that others have shared. Then hit the download button on that post to download the ROG Vision.

This is also the place you'll go if you want to make a post sharing your own with other users. In this connect section you can also interact with other users in the community, like their posts, and comment on posts. Kind of like a forum.

And that's basically it! Change your ROG Vision on your ROG Phone 5 Pro or ROG Phone 5 Ultimate as much as you like and see if you can come up with some cool designs, and see what others might have created.
