OnePlus debuted the Shelf a few years ago, as a one-stop shop for all sorts of shortcuts, and tools. Making it easier to get things done on your phone. This includes showing your step counter, a toolbox with quick access to shortcuts, and even memos. So you can write down those million-dollar ideas easily. It's a small but very useful feature for OnePlus users, and works very well.

The Shelf used to live to the left of the home screen. But now, that is where Google Discover lives. So OnePlus sort of hid it. But you can still access it by swiping down on your home screen. However, you may want that gesture to bring down the notifications and quick settings instead. Luckily, you can disable the Shelf and disable the gesture altogether. And that's what we'll be showing you today. How to disable the Shelf on the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

It's pretty simple to do it, but the settings are a bit hidden. So let's get started.

How To Disable The Shelf On OnePlus 9

To disable the shelf on your OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro, go to your home screen.

Long-press on an empty area of the home screen.

Now tap on "Home screen settings" in the lower-right hand corner. 

Tap on "Swipe down to access", which should be the second option in this settings menu. 

Here you can choose to tap on the toggle next to "Enable" which will eliminate the swipe down gesture period. Or you can change it to bring down the notification shade when you swipe down. To do that, tap on "Notifications & Quick Settings" at the bottom.

Then click "Save" at the bottom of the screen.

And that's it, the shelf is now gone. If you decide to bring it back, repeat the steps above, and enable it or tap on the "Shelf" option.
