According to The Verge, some new Microsoft Surface Headphones have a Microsoft Teams button on them. There are also two other new headsets that have the Microsoft Teams buttons as well. Microsoft has been pushing Microsoft Teams heavily as of late. These new buttons are just the newest push.
Besides the new headphones, there are other devices with a Teams button too. Microsoft launched intelligent speakers for Teams last month. There are also monitors that have Teams buttons on them as well.
These monitors came out earlier this year. These new headsets aren’t even the first ones that Microsoft has put the Teams buttons on. However, the company is heading towards this being a normal addition.
Microsoft is releasing the Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 Plus for Business. These are a refresh instead of a big redesign. The feature list stays the same as on the Surface Headphones 2. The battery life remains the same as well. However, there is a difference. Microsoft now certifies these headphones for Microsoft Teams usage.
As such, there is now a dedicated Microsoft Teams button and a new USB dongle that includes a light to let you know if you are on mute or not. That last little bit is an amazing addition to have in this day and age. Nobody wants to accidentally say something during a Microsoft Teams meeting that can get them in trouble.
Unfortunately for anybody who wants these for themselves, there is a bit of a hurdle. Microsoft is only selling the Surface Headphones 2 Plus for Business to business and education customers. As a result, you can’t just walk into a store and buy some. Maybe your employer can buy you a pair though.
Last month a new Xbox Wireless Headset launched. Now, Microsoft is bringing another wireless headset to market. The Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset is a similar option for laptops and PCs. The headset has padded ear cups, a microphone that will automatically mute when you flip it up, and on-ear controls for mute, volume, and Microsoft Teams controls.
There is also a USB dongle for the new wireless headset which is required for Microsoft Teams features. The new headset will have up to 50 hours according to Microsoft. That number is only up to 30 hours for Microsoft Teams talk time.
The headset can also charge fully in under two and a half hours. Of course, Microsoft is being quiet on the price, but the headsets will ship in select markets come June. For those of you who do not like wireless, or just a fascination with wires there is an option for you. The Microsoft Modern USB Headset connects over USB-A.
This is ironic considering they carry the Modern moniker. There are inline controls for volume, mute, and there is a Microsoft Teams button. The headset is lightweight with padded ear cups and is meant to be an affordable option. These will run you $49.99 and will ship in June for business and education customers. Check out the new headphones below.
