OnePlus has finally started pushing a stable build of the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. The update is rolling out with build numbers HD65AA and HD01AA for the two devices respectively. It also bundles the February 2021 Android security patch, which is a bit disappointing from OnePlus as we are now nearing the end of March.

Nonetheless, OxygenOS 11 brings a plethora of changes to OnePlus phones. The UI has undergone a major overhaul, now resembling Samsung's One UI, making for easier one-handed usage. As OnePlus says, the new UI brings you a "more comfortable experience with various optimizations of details."

You get several new features as well. The Camera app now supports the HEVC codec to reduce video storage size; Dark Mode gets a shortcut key in quick settings; Game Space features quick-reply messaging windows; the Gallery app gets a new Story function that automatically creates a weekly roundup of your photos and videos, and much, much more.

However, it's not all good news for OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro owners with this update. Several users who have already updated to the latest software version report a broken Camera app. The Camera app apparently crashes when trying to switch between different lenses and modes following the new update. The screen turns completely black. Clearing the cache and app data doesn't help.

Moreover, the always-on display (AOD), which has been missing from OnePlus phones altogether until OxygenOS 11, still doesn't make it into the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. The company did add AOD to the two phones with OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 2 earlier in February, but it has been left out of the stable build. The feature is reportedly still in testing and, thankfully, will be pushed out in subsequent updates.

Stable OxygenOS 11 now rolling out for OnePlus 7T, 7T Pro

OnePlus hasn't had a smooth ride with the OxygenOS 11 update for the OnePlus 7 series phones. Back in December last year, the company had to delay the OxygenOS 11 beta program for the phones due to a technical issue. It eventually released the first Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 open beta for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series in late January.

Now, after several rounds of beta testing, a stable build is rolling out to the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. There are seemingly some issues with the stable build as well, but a hotfix should be on the way soon.

The regular OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, meanwhile, got a fourth open beta a few days ago, finally introducing AOD to the two devices. The stable update for them also should not be too far off now. OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro owners, be on the lookout for an announcement in the coming days.
