OnePlus is rolling out a new update to its most affordable 5G smartphone to date, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G. The latest update is based on OxygenOS 10, so there’s still no sign of Android 11 for the mid-ranger. However, it does bring a few important changes to the device.

To begin with, the latest update introduces OxygenOS 10.5.11 to the OnePlus Nord N10 in Europe while the update for the global version of the phone comes with OxygenOS 10.5.12. The build numbers for the two regions are 10.5.11.BE89BA (EU) and 10.5.12.BE86AA (GLO).

According to the official changelog, the new update brings the March 2021 Android security patch to the OnePlus Nord N10. It’s disappointing that the phone isn’t getting the latest security patch but we’ve now come to expect this from OnePlus, as far as its lower-cost phones are concerned. The company’s software support for its mid-rangers has been pathetic, to say the least. It’s promising only one major Android OS update for the likes of OnePlus Nord N10 and Nord N100 (i.e. Android 11) and that has yet to arrive as well.

Nonetheless, the OxygenOS 10.5.11/10.5.12 update for the OnePlus Nord N10 also promises to improve system power consumption. It further brings Wi-Fi and 5G stability and performance improvements. Last but not least, the update also fixes some known issues and improves system stability.

OnePlus Nord N10 gets another OxygenOS 10 based update

The OnePlus Nord N10 arrived in October last year, running OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10. Although there’s no sign of the OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) update for the device yet, it has picked up a few OxygenOS 10.5 updates since launch.

The device last received an update in February this year. The OxygenOS 10.5.10 update introduced the then-latest February 2021 Android security patch along with a bunch of other stability and performance improvements. It is now picking up another update as the wait for Android 11 continues.

The OxygenOS 10.5.11 for the OnePlus Nord N10 weighs in at around 113MB. So it’s not a very large download over the air (OTA). However, as always, the rollout will be incremental. That means OnePlus will first push the OTA to a handful of units. Once it’s confirmed to be bug-free, the rollout will expand to users across the world.

You can manually check if the update is available for your phone. Simply open the Settings app, navigate to the System menu and tap on System Update. If an OTA update is available, you’ll be prompted to download it on the next screen.
