Do you like using Chrome OS, but find yourself needing Windows software? Well Parallels Desktop for Chrome OS will help more Chromebooks do this according to Android Central. A new update to Parallels Desktop for Chrome OS brings support for more processors and devices.

After the update devices with AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 chips can now use Parallels to run Windows software. This is great news for any users who primarily use Chromebooks but need to use one or two applications that are only available on Windows.

Chromebooks are loved thanks to their simpler approach to what a computer should be. They are also cheaper and generally more secure compared to Windows computers. Chromebooks have even found themselves becoming more and more popular in the education space.

But, here is a list of all of the AMD Chromebooks that can now use Parallels to access Windows applications. The HP Pro c645 Chromebook can now use Parallels. In addition, the Lenovo ThinkPad C13 Yoga Chromebook, and the Acer Chromebook Spin 514 round out the new supported Chromebooks.

Parallels Desktop for Chrome OS now supports more Chromebooks

There are also 9 new Intel Chromebooks that Parallels now supports. Those nine are the Acer Chromebook 714, Acer Chromebook 715, and the Acer Chromebook CXI4. The Dell 5300 2-in-1 Chromebook, Dell Latitude 5400, and the Dell Latitude 7410 are also on the list.

Rounding out the list are three ASUS devices. These are the ASUS Chromebook Flip CM5, ASUS Fanless Chromebox, and the ASUS Chromebox 4. Other than support for these new devices the update brings along camera and microphone redirection and USB support.

The USB support is perfect for anybody who needs to use a flash drive while they are in the virtual environment. An added bonus is the ability to take advantage of Zoom features that could only be accessed via the windows version. So that is cool.

Chromebooks have come a long way since they first launched. When they first came out they basically offered a spruced up web browser experience. Users could only access everything via the web. So Google’s suite of offerings like Docs, Gmail, and more was very important.

Thankfully, Google continued to improve Chrome OS. Now the OS has access to Android Apps, Linux Apps, and Windows Apps. Chromebooks are extremely versatile in what they can do now which is good. With timely updates from Google to keep them safe, Android integration, and the ability to use Linux and Windows apps, Chromebooks can do a bit of everything.
