Stadia on Android has been lacking party chat capabilities since launch. Meanwhile nearly every other device platform you can play Stadia games on, has access to the feature. If you typically play games solo, then this probably doesn't bother you. Because you won't be entering a voice chat with yourself.
But for games that include team-based content and activities, such as PvP modes in Destiny 2 or raids in The Division 2, team voice communication is extremely important. Without it, your chances of success decrease as there are just some times where you need to talk things out with your teammates.
Luckily it looks like Google may getting closer to a party chat release for Stadia on Android.
Before going further, it's important to note that Google hasn't confirmed any updated information about party chat coming to Android. The feature is definitely coming, but there's still no official concrete date for the release.
However, 9To5Google has found new mentions of the feature in the code of the latest version of the Stadia app. The code mentions that the party chat feature on Android will work through WebRTC. Which is an open-source project that helps to enable real-time communication.
What's more is that Android TV is mentioned in regards to the feature as well. So perhaps in the near future party chat will be available for both platforms. For now, if you play on Android you're still limited to sending individual messages to people on your friends list.
Or you could always communicate through the use of outside apps like Discord.
If you haven't already done so, make sure to claim your free Pro games this month. As they hit Stadia yesterday, March 1.
One of those games is PixelJunk Raiders, the new action roguelike from Kyoto, Japan-based Q Games. You also get to claim Avicii Invector, Reigns, and Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle. All games can be claimed for free and can be played for as long as your Pro subscription is active.
Just like every other Stadia Pro game. Yesterday also saw the launch of a few new games for Stadia, including Monster Jam Steel Titans 2, It Came From Space and Ate Our Brains, and Saints Row: The Third Redux.
You may also want to run down the list of Pro games within the Stadia app to check which ones haven't been claimed. As some will almost certainly leave the Pro list in the near future.
