The Lenovo Legion Duel 2 teardown has appeared online, to show us why the phone bends. This teardown has been conducted and filmed by Zack from JerryRigEverything YouTube channel.

That being said, the very same source conducted a durability test on the device recently. During that durability test, the phone failed. It failed in the bend test, which is the last test Zack usually performs.

The Lenovo Legion Duel 2 broke during a durability test, and this video tries to answer why it bends so easily

The device broke in half, and the point of breakage was right next to the module on the back. That’s not an ideal situation, needless to say, which is why Zack decided to peek inside the device.

Now, in order to open this phone, he had to do the same thing as for any modern smartphone. The heat needed to be applied to the phone’s backplate, and following that, he used a razorblade in order to cut through the adhesive.

The backplate on this device came out in thirds, which is to be expected considering that the phone technically broke into three pieces. He had the most issue with the middle part, it even broke when being taken out.

You’ll notice that the Lenovo Legion Duel 2 has two batteries on the inside. It’s also interesting that the buttons/triggers are glued into the frame of the phone. There are also two vibration motors inside of this thing.

The device does offer minor protection against water

The Lenovo Legion Duel 2 does offer minor protection against water, so keep that in mind. Also, Lenovo did a great job with the vapor champer here, it seems, it’s amongst the biggest ones on a smartphone. That’s great, considering this is a gaming smartphone.

So, why did it break? Well, that cooling system / module that you can see on the back is the main culprit. The two sides of the phone that connect into it are the weak point, compared to regular smartphones.

This phone is built in a different way to regular smartphones. That’s not to say it offers poor build, but it’s not as tough as most regular smartphones. Most people won’t have an issue with this, but simply note that you can’t apply as much pressure on this phone’s back as you would on most other phones. You can check out the entire teardown below.
