Samsung is going full-throttle in rolling out the March security patch and Android 11 update to its eligible devices. The latest report by XDA reveals that Samsung Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A80 are the latest to receive the Android 11 update.
Well, good thing is that this Android 11 update bundles the latest One UI 3.1 update from Samsung. A bunch of older flagships from the Korean OEM have already been upgraded to Samsung's latest UI, the One UI 3.1 which is based on Android 11.
Cut to now, the company has shifted its focus in providing the One UI 3.1 experience to its mid-range devices. This month, Samsung Galaxy A50, A50s, and Galaxy A70 received the taste of One UI 3.1.
Now, the One UI 3.1 update based on Android 11 is expanding over to Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A80. Notably, both the SM-A405FM and SM-A405FN variants of the Samsung Galaxy A40 are picking up Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update.
Galaxy A40 Android 11 update arrives with firmware version A405FMPUU3CUC2 for SM-A405FM variant. While the SM-A405FN variant gets the update with firmware version A405FNXXU3CUC2.
Note that the "FM" model is a Russia-only device, and the "FN" model is available in Germany. On top of One UI 3.1, this new update also includes the latest March 2021 security patch.
Another thing that XDA highlights is that this new Android 11 update does not change the bootloader version on Galaxy A40 models. Meaning that users will be able to downgrade their devices to Android 10 if they want to.
Talking about the Android 11 One UI 3.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy A80, it is getting the One UI 3.1 love in two different regions. Apparently, both SM-A805F and SM-A8050 models are getting the update.
The update arrives with firmware version A805FXXU5DUC7 for SM-A8005F in the XEF region, while it carries firmware version A8050ZxU5DUC7 for SM-A8050 in China and Hong Kong.
Similar to Galaxy A40, the update for Galaxy A80 also bumps the security patch level to the latest March 2021. Samsung is pushing these new updates via OTA in the mentioned regions gradually.
This means that the update won't be available straight away for everyone. However, you can check for updates on the eligible devices manually.
In order to do that, you need to head over to Settings. Then go to System Updates. Here, tap on Download and Install. If the update is available, then you should receive an update notification.
Tap on the new update notification to being downloading and installation of the update on your device.
