Samsung is rolling out a new security patch for the Galaxy S21 series, and this update is available to download for some owners. The March update will be available for all owners over a short time. Currently, Taiwanese users are able to receive this update.
According to the changelog, the update includes some improvements for overall device performance, camera, and security. The version name is G99x0ZHU1AUB7, and it weighs 387MB. The size of the update shows it is not a significant update, and it includes some tiny improvements.
No further details have been released yet, but we expect Samsung to release more information in the coming weeks.
This is not the first 2021 security update from the Korean OEM. Samsung has been very active in recent months and has released several security updates for its devices.
Samsung released a similar security patch for the Verizon Galaxy S21 and S21+ devices in February. Moreover, the Galaxy S20, S9, and S9+ received their security updates months ago.
If this update is available for your region, you will receive a notification asking you to install it. But if any notification didn't pop up on your device, you can head to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
It seems that the Galaxy S21 is not the only device that is going to receive a March 2021 security patch. Some users reported that the update is also available for the Galaxy A8 2018 with model number SM-A530F. Of course, this update has not been widely rolled out. Currently, only users in the United Arab Emirates can receive this update. This region is known as XSG in Samsung internal codes.
The fact that a mid-range phone in 2018 is receiving updates in 2021 could be a good sign of Samsung's commitment to providing more updates for similar phones. Maybe we should have to wait for more updates in the coming months.
Samsung is rolling out the March 2021 security patch to a wider range of its devices. According to the reports, the Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Fold, and the Galaxy Tab S7 are in the queue to receive this update. The widespread release of this update may take several weeks. So if you own one of the mentioned devices, keep your eyes on the notifications.
Security updates are not the only updates that Samsung released in recent weeks. The One UI 3.1 update is rolling out to more devices, including the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Fold.
