Select Galaxy S21 camera features are now coming over to Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series on Verizon. The Big Red is rolling out new updates to the Galaxy S10 lineup, introducing the new camera features. This follows a similar update for the Galaxy Note 10 series last week.

With the latest update, the Galaxy S10 phones gain the ability to use the ultrawide lens in Pro and Pro Video camera modes. The devices also pick up auto Night mode support for Photo, Portrait, and Hyperlapse camera modes. When using these camera modes, the device can automatically detect low light conditions and turn on Night mode.

These came features debuted on the Galaxy S21 series earlier this year. Samsung has pushed them to multiple older Galaxy flagships over the past few weeks. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 phones picked up the new camera features first, followed by the Galaxy S20 FE and, most recently, the Galaxy Note 10.

Unfortunately, the Galaxy S10 phones aren’t getting the three studio-like effects in the Portrait mode that all other phones got. The new High-Key Mono, Low-Key Mono, and Backdrop effects let you change the background for portrait shots. Nonetheless, if you’re rocking a Galaxy S10 phone, you must appreciate that your phone is picking up some two generations newer camera features.

Galaxy S10 series pick up new updates on Verizon’s network

The Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ are all receiving the latest update from Verizon. Along with the new camera features, the latest update also bundles the April 2021 Android security patch. This month’s security maintenance release is quite a big package. It contains fixes for 21 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items and six critical vulnerabilities found on Android OS. The latest Android security patch also fixes dozens of other high-risk Android OS vulnerabilities.

The new update for the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ comes with the firmware version G970USQU5GUCH, G973USQU5GUCH, and G975USQU5GUCH respectively. It appears the 5G version of the Galaxy S10 has yet to join this update party, the rollout of which began on Friday. Expect the phone to pick up the new update in the coming days.

The latest update for the Galaxy S10 series on Verizon is rolling over the air (OTA) and should reach all eligible units over the course of this week. If you own any of the devices, be on the lookout for this update in the coming days if you haven’t already received it.
