T-Mobile has started rolling out the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update to Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series. All four Galaxy S10 models – Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10 5G – are receiving the new update. The latest update comes with build version numbers G970USQU5GUCG, G973USQU5GUCG, G975USQU5GUCG, and G977TUVU6FUC1 for the four modes respectively.

The official changelog doesn’t detail the content of the new update but there’s plenty to talk about. One UI 3.1 brings several camera-related improvements to Samsung‘s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. There are new video call effects as well that let you blur the background in video calls.

Eye Comfort Shield (enhanced blue light filter) and the ability to remove location data from photos before sharing them with others or on social media are other notable additions. The latest update also introduces minor tweaks to certain UI elements to make navigation through the menus simpler. Last but not least, One UI 3.1 brings improvements to stock apps including Gallery, Camera, Samsung Internet, Calendar, and others.

This update follows the One UI 3.0 update released in February this year. One UI 3.0 introduced Android 11 to Samsung devices. Now One UI 3.1, which debuted on the Galaxy S21 series, is bringing a few more additional features.

One UI 3.1 update rolls out for Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series on T-Mobile

The One UI 3.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S10 series on T-Mobile also bundles the March 2021 Android security patch. That’s a bit disappointing from the carrier since Samsung has already rolled out the May security patch to several unlocked models.

Nonetheless, if you’re using any of the Galaxy S10 phones on T-Mobile’s network, expect a new over the air (OTA) update to hit your phone anytime now if it hasn’t already. As usual, T-Mobile has set a daily limit on OTA downloads to prevent any potential download issues. As such, you might have to wait a few days to receive the latest update.

You can check for updates by navigating to the Software update menu in your phone’s Settings app and then tapping Download and install. If you don’t see any updates available, you can check back later. T-Mobile will lift the daily limit on May 8th, so you should receive the update by then. Since it’s a major update (weighing nearly 1.2GB), we recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network, preferably unmetered, before downloading the OTA file to prevent incurring unwanted cellular data charges.
