Remember back at the beginning of the pandemic when we all got into online courses? Well, a long year has passed and millions of courses sit unfinished. Personally, I’ve still got a couple saved in my OneTab extension on my browser, as if I’m going to get back to them eventually.

The problem with online courses is that they require a significant time commitment on a regular basis. Most of us either don’t have the time or don't have the energy to keep to a schedule like that.

All of this is why the best learning for busy people comes from innovative apps. The good news is that there are plenty available on the app store.

Here are some of the best learning apps available for Android.

Lingopie

Learning a second (or third or fourth) language has been shown to keep your brain active, increasing your ability to concentrate and express your creativity. Unfortunately, you need to be able to concentrate to some degree already to learn a new language. That is, unless you use Lingopie.

Lingopie is currently the best app to learn Spanish, precisely because it makes it so easy. Instead of repeating words and phrases over and over again, you get to do something enjoyable – watch TV. Yes, Lingopie teaches you Spanish and French through series from those countries.

By watching these series, you get an idea of how the language is spoken, with interactive subtitles to help you get to grips with common words and phrases. Lingopie has other languages coming soon, and is far more fun than any other language app on the market.

Lumosity

If you're interested in keeping your brain active in other ways, you may have heard of the idea of brain training. Just like you would go to the gym to build and maintain your muscles, you need to do exercises to give your brain a workout.

Lumosity is the highest rated brain training app, with exercises designed by scientists and neurologists. These games give you logic problems that increase your sharpness, help you learn new things, and improve your problem solving skills.

The app itself is free, and you can do a fair amount without paying, but a monthly subscription is recommended.

Photomath

Photomath is an app that improves your mathematics skills. You simply write down an equation and scan it with your phone. The app then provides you with the answer along with all the working out. It shows you exactly how to complete such problems.

Unlike online math courses, Photomath is not going to teach you math in a systematic way. However, if you are doing a course in mathematics and need help, Photomath is the perfect app for you.

SoloLearn

Providing a full package of apps, SoloLearn teaches you how to code in a range of different programming languages, from HTML to Java and C++, as well as Python. Each language has its own app that can be accessed for free. They provide a great start for anyone who wants to get into coding but is reluctant to dive in through a complex course.
