If you’re looking for a new smartwatch, but aren’t exactly a fan of the current options, you might want to hold off for a little bit longer. A new leak suggests that a new Motorola-branded smartwatch is on the way later this year and will be powered by the latest Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor. This may come as a bit of a surprise, but this smartwatch is not actually going to be coming from Motorola.

Back in 2019, a company by the name of eBuyNow purchased the licensing to the super-nostalgic Moto 360 branding. This company has now merged with another company, CE Brands, and there’s a new roadmap revealing an array of new products, including some new Moto 360 smartwatches.

A roadmap from CE Brands has revealed three new smartwatches with the Moto branding, with one of these looking like a new-and-improved version of the original Moto 360. There is already an updated Moto 360 available from eBuyNow, but that’s powered by the Snapdragon Wear 3100, which is just simply underpowered compared to what the Wear 4100 has to offer.

In the leaked roadmap materials, a few images of the round-faced Moto 360 are made available. And thanks to some deeper diving from the folks over at the Wear OS subreddit, we have an idea of what the upcoming Moto 360 will feature in terms of specs.

One of the images was zoomed in and enhanced, revealing the following information:

  • Snapdragon Wear 4100
  • NFC
  • GPS
  • 5ATM

The underside of the new Moto 360 reveals Qi charging will be on board, considering that you can see through the bottom glass and view the coils. It also seems that the watch will have some health monitoring sensors as can be seen from the cutouts in the middle of the coil.

In the aforementioned roadmap, this specific Moto-branded watch was not listed, but instead, was shown on another slide of the overall presentation. The roadmap specifically shows that a “Moto G Smartwatch” will be coming sometime in June, while the “Moto Watch & One” will be arriving in July.

Considering that only the TicWatch Pro 3 is the only currently-available smartwatch powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100, it will be nice to have some more competition on the market. Plus, you love to see the nostalgia button being hit by the Moto 360 branding, even if the infamous flat tire has been removed.

Will you be picking one of these up for yourself? Or are you waiting to see if the next Samsung Watch is going to be running Wear OS?
