It is only a concept design that highlights the company's design principles. The representative said that we'll some traits of this design pour over to the upcoming wireless earbuds, though, such as transparency. Branding probably won't be visible, though, which is always a good thing. The representative also added that the company plans to use "natural and familiar shapes" in its design.

ORIGINAL STORY: Nothing, Carl Pei’s new company, has just shared its very first product, a wireless earbud that looks… different. Well, the company refers to this as the ‘Concept 1’, but it could easily become the company’s first product this summer. More on that later.

If you take a look at the provided image above, you’ll see the product itself. It comes with a see-through shell. On the inside, you can see the company’s branding, through the product’s outer shell.

Nothing's wireless earbuds sports design that is… different, to say the least

This wireless earbud reminds me of a good old-fashioned whistle. It may remind you of something else, but the point is, it doesn’t really look like a wireless earbud that you’d see people use.

There’s not much to go on here. This is basically the company’s teaser for what’s to come, and its design statement of sorts. As some of you probably already know, OnePlus agreed on a partnership with Teenage Engineering, as that well-known design company will handle hardware design.

On top of that, Nothing did acquire Essential, though probably mainly for its patents. We’ll see, though, nothing has been confirmed yet, so it’s possible some of Essential’s past products will rub off on Nothing’s vision as well.

On the official website, Nothing highlighted principles for its products: Weightless, Effortless, and Timeless. Nothing stated earlier that its goal is to bring technology closer to people, to make it blend in seamlessly.

This concept product may become a reality soon

This concept product may make it to the market in the Summer. Nothing did confirm a while back that its first product is coming in the Summer of 2021. It also said that we can expect a pair of wireless earphones (or headphones).

Nothing will begin its journey with an audio product, or more than one, but that’s not where it plans to stop. Nothing seems to be interested in creating a rather interesting portfolio of products down the road.
