The Xiaomi Mi Box S is plenty capable, but isn't a good deal when compared to its current competition. If Xiaomi had followed its own philosophy and offered a lower price, things might have been different. If the Mi Box S is one of your only options then it's still worth a look, but similarly priced devices from Google, Roku, and Amazon are all better buys.
