Back in February, we reported Google will begin rolling out the YouTube Shorts in the United States in March. Fast forward to now, the beta version of YouTube Shorts is finally live for users in the US.

The downfall of TikTok gave rise to many new players in the market. Instagram introduced Reels, which is the best imitation of TikTok short video format.

There are other apps also available, but one of the major players, Google, also launched YouTube Shorts. It was first introduced in India and considering the huge increment in daily views globally, this feature was soon heading towards creators in the US.

Now, a report by Android Central confirms the YouTube Shorts beta is available in the US. Along with the US expansion, YouTube Shorts also gain some additional features.

For the unaware, YouTube Shorts is a platform that allows creating quick shareable 15 seconds videos. You can add music, slow down, or speed up the footage to add your creativity.

YouTube Shorts Beta version also brings the ability to add time-based text

Besides, just like Instagram Stories, you can share multiple YouTube Shorts with your viewers. The beta version that is currently rolling out in the US also brings the ability to add time-based text and sample audio from other Shorts.

Users can choose from a huge library of songs from over 250 labels and publishers across various genres including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment.

Plus, users will be able to sample audio from other Shorts as well. YouTube plans to bring this sampling feature to YouTube videos in the near future.

Google has also teased a few more tools for the YouTube Shorts camera UI. Notably, a dedicated Shorts tab will be added to the bottom bar of the YouTube app.

This means that creators can access YouTube Shorts right from the Home tab of the YouTube app. YouTube Shorts give creators the functionality to share live updates about their status or any other fun moments, which they may not share in a dedicated YouTube video.

However, do note that the feature is currently rolling out in beta. So, there might be some bugs or issues associated with the feature.

Google is rolling out the YouTube Shorts beta gradually starting today. This means that it won't be available for everyone right away. If the feature hasn't reached you yet, then you should probably wait for your turn.
