9to5Google is reporting that the Android 12 Developer Preview 2.2 has been posted by Google. The new Android 12 preview also comes with the April security patch and various bug fixes. It is always a good thing to get new updates to fix bugs, and have security patches in them.
The last Android 12 Developer Preview 2.1 came at the end of last month. That update took care of the annoying WebView crashing problem that plagued a lot of Android users. Now Google is following that needed fix up with the Android 12 Developer Preview 2.2.
This update is currently rolling out to Pixel phones which are on Android 12. Google generally gives users a patch two weeks after the main release. The Developer Preview 2.1 falls into this timeline as well. That one came due to the urgent need to fix the WebView crashing problems.
Now, the Developer Preview 2.2 is most likely what the last update was supposed to be originally. This new update also brings along some fixes for several issues as well. Fixes for connectivity include one for how the Settings app would occasionally crash when opening the Bluetooth menu. There is also a fix for an errant notification about low Bluetooth call quality.
A fix for Wifi passwords is in the update as well. This bug saw Wifi passwords not saving. There is also a fix for widgets disappearing from the home screen after OTA installs. The notification shade will also no longer activate when typing.
The new update’s build number is SPP2.210219.018. Again, it comes with the April security patch that stable Android 11 Pixel phones got Monday. The full list of changes includes those mentioned above and more.
