Despite Google and Amazon somewhat making up in 2019, and bringing YouTube to the Fire TV, and Prime Video to Android TV, the Echo Show (and for that matter, the Nest Hub) were left out. There's still no way to watch YouTube on the Echo Show as there is no app available for it. Or rather, no skill available, since it runs on Alexa.
But there is still a way to watch YouTube on the Echo Show 10 (and other Echo Show devices). It's a bit of a workaround, and not the best experience, but it does work. And today, we're going to show you how to watch YouTube on the Amazon Echo Show 10.
Hopefully Google and Amazon will come to their senses and bring YouTube over to the Echo Show devices in the future.
From the Echo Show 10 home screen, swipe from right to left.
Then tap on Video.
From here, you will see video apps that you can open on your Echo Show. The top three are Prime Video, Netflix and Hulu. Followed by YouTube, as a web app.
Tap on YouTube.
Now you'll be asked to select a default browser. You can choose Amazon's Silk Browser or Firefox.
After you do this, you will be taken to YouTube.
You will also now be able to say, "Alexa, open YouTube". If you selected the Silk Browser, you'll have to say "Alexa, open YouTube in Silk" to get it to open. You'll also be able to tell Alexa to open specific videos on YouTube now.
And now you'll be able to watch YouTube videos on your Echo Show 10.
Obviously, it's not the best experience, or the most elegant way to watch YouTube. But it does work, and allows you to watch YouTube on your Echo Show 10, or even the Echo Show 5 and 8 models.
