In January this year, a mysterious Nokia smartphone codenamed Quicksilver had popped up on benchmarking platform Geekbench with 6GB of RAM and Android 11-based software. Not much about this device has been heard since, but we now have a marketing name for it.
According to a Nokia Power User report, the Quicksilver phone will launch soon as the Nokia X20. The device will reportedly arrive alongside the Nokia X10, which is apparently codenamed Scarlet Witch. The publication has also shared some key specifications of the two devices.
Both the smartphones will come with 5G connectivity, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G platform. The Nokia X20 is the pricier of the two, featuring 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage capacity. The Nokia X10 will also get 6GB of RAM but will only come with 32GB of internal storage.
It's unclear if either or both the phones will be available in multiple memory configurations. The report also doesn't reveal anything about whether we will get expandable storage on either device. However, we expect at least the latter to offer support for a MicroSD card, if not both.
The publication claims that the Nokia X20 will be available in Blue and Sand color options. It may debut with a price tag of 349 euros (roughly $416) for the 6GB+128GB variant. The Nokia X10, on the other hand, may cost about 300 euros (~$358) for the 6GB+32GB model. It will be available in White and Green color options.
HMD Global, the Finnish firm behind Nokia-branded smartphones, has scheduled an event on April 8th. The company hasn't revealed anything about the event itself, with a teaser page on the official Nokia Phones website simply saying "Save The Date" along with the hashtag #LoveTrustKeep. This is where we expect the Nokia X10 and the Nokia X20 to break cover.
We may also see a third phone, the Nokia G10, accompanying the two affordable 5G offerings from Nokia at the event. This device is also expected to come with a humble set of specifications, which may include a 6.4-inch display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and 10W of charging speeds.
The Nokia G10, Nokia X10, and the Nokia X20 are the first batch of devices to feature the new naming convention. A report earlier this month claimed that the company is preparing to move away from the current "dot" naming convention and opt for a new alphanumeric system similar to that of Samsung, Motorola, and others. It should be now only a matter of time before things get official.
