We’ve already covered the launch of the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III in a separate article. It’s time to talk about their specifications, to take a closer look, as there’s a lot to cover here. In this article, we’ll cover the Sony Xperia 1 III, specifications of the company’s main flagship.
Before we start, let’s just say that this phone is made out of metal and glass, and that it resembles its predecessor. It has a tall and wide aspect ratio, and it looks modern, for sure.
The Sony Xperia 1 III features a 6.5-inch 4K (3840 x 1644) OLED HDR display. That panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Snapdragon 888 fuels the Xperia 1 III, while it is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. You can expand its internal storage via a microSD card, up to 1TB.
There are three cameras on the back of this device, along with 3D ToF sensors. A 12-megapixel main camera (Exmor RS sensor, f/1.7 aperture, Hybrid OIS/EIS) is paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 124-degree FoV), and a 12-megapixel telephoto unit (variable lens, f/2.3-f/2.8 variable aperture, 12.5x hybrid zoom). ZEISS T coating is also applied here.
A single 8-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture, Exmor RS sensor, 1.12um pixel size, 84-degree wide-angle lens) sits on the front side of the phone.
The Sony Xperia 1 III includes a side-facing fingerprint scanner. It also comes with Android 11 out of the box, while it is IPX5/IPX8 certified for water resistance, and IP6X for dust resistance.
A 4,500mAh battery is included here, and it supports 30W fast wired charging (USB PD). The phone does support wireless charging, though its speed is still unknown.
A 3.5mm headphone jack is included here, as are two SIM card slots + a microSD card slot. The phone supports 360 Reality Audio, and it has full-stage stereo speakers, along with Dolby Atmos support.
The Xperia 1 III comes with Bluetooth 5.2, and a Type-C USB 3.1 port at the bottom. NFC is also supported, as is 5G. The device measures 165.1 x 71.12 x 7.62mm, and weighs 187.1 grams. It comes in Frosted Black and Frosted Purple color variants.
