Galaxy A70s

The Galaxy A70s is the latest Samsung smartphone to join the Android 11 update party. The mid-range phone is currently picking up the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update in India. The new update also bundles the March 2021 Android security patch and bumps the firmware version of the device to A707FDDU3CUC6.

The One UI 3.1 update brings tons of new features and enhancements to Samsung smartphones. With this update, the Galaxy A70s is gaining a new UI design, support for chat bubbles, a dedicated media playback widget in the quick settings panel, a conversations section in the notifications area, and much more.

Moreover, Samsung Free is replacing Samsung Daily as the built-in content-discovery platform on the leftmost home screen of your phone. You can now add video backgrounds for the call screen and remove GPS location data from images before sharing. Samsung Keyboard is gaining more features as well. Last but not least, One UI 3.1 brings improvements to stock apps including Gallery, Camera, Samsung Browser, Calendar, and others.

Samsung starts rolling out Android 11 to Galaxy A70s, with One UI 3.1

The Galaxy A70s didn't see the light of day in too many markets outside of India. Launched with Android 9-based One UI 1.1 in September 2019, the device received its first major update to Android 10 with One UI 2.0 in March last year. It then received the One UI 2.5 update in October. Now, five months later, it is picking up the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 as well.

Android 11 should be the last major Android OS update for the Galaxy A70s. The mid-ranger isn't covered by Samsung's recently-upgraded software update policy that promises three generations of Android OS updates to its flagships and a select few mid-rangers in the Galaxy A series.

Nonetheless, the One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy A70s has a download size of over 2GB. So it's a fairly large download over the air (OTA). We advise you to connect your phone to a stable and secure Wi-Fi network before downloading the file.

It's pertinent to mention here that software updates are released in batches and may not be available to all eligible devices simultaneously. You should receive a notification to download the OTA file once it becomes available for your phone. You can also manually check for updates by going to the Software update menu in your phone's Settings app. If you own a Samsung Galaxy A70s, watch out for the Android 11 update in the coming days.
