Samsung will be launching its upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 early if a recent tip from Twitter's "Ice universe" is accurate. The tip, first reported by SamMobile, isn't too detailed. But it does indicate the watch could arrive as much as a full quarter earlier than usual. While Samsung typically launches wearables in Q3, for 2021 it could launch in Q2.

What else does this Galaxy Watch 4 tip tell us?

Aside from potentially arriving early, another hint about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series could be more pertinent to the Galaxy Watch 3 series. Namely, the Twitter user says that the watches will be the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4.

Prior leaks have already indicated that two models could be slated. But the arrival of a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 would preclude a Galaxy Watch Active 3. So the rumor, if accurate, could mean that there won't be a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 this year. Instead, the company appears to be readying the next generation "Active." And that could arrive at the same time this time too. Whereas, Samsung typically launches the 'active' edition wearables in-between the primary launches in this series.

What do previous reports tell us about this series?

As noted above, that's the extent of the new details provided by Ice universe. But that doesn't mean we're totally in the dark about the next-gen Galaxy Watch series.

Spotted in mid-February under model designations SM-R86x and SM-R87x, both models are expected to ship in two configurations. Those would be either a Bluetooth model or an LTE model. And there has also been some speculation that these wouldn't ship with Samsung's Tizen OS either. Instead, they could ship with Google's Android-based Wear OS.

Otherwise, rumors suggest that ECG, Fall Detection, and SpO2 will be further supplemented with a new blood glucose level feature. That won't require any blood draws either if rumors are accurate. In any case, with Q2 rapidly approaching, it shouldn't be too much longer before all of the details are known for these best-in-class smartwatches.
